Description

One of the first things to see in Dubai is the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, standing at 828 meters, and on clear days, it can be seen from more than 100 kilometers away. At night, it serves as the city's beacon for sailors. It is located in the downtown district of Dubai, in the most commercial area, surrounded by a large park and a lake, as well as shopping centers and numerous restaurants. The Burj Khalifa and other towering skyscrapers shape the iconic skyline of Dubai.

The 828 meters are divided into 163 floors, with a rooftop at 587 meters high. Beyond that, the rest of the building is uninhabited and ends in a large antenna. Right below the rooftop is the world's highest observation deck: The New Deck, located at 555 meters.

While in the downtown area, you must visit the Dubai Fountain, located in the lake in front of the Burj Khalifa. It ranks first in programmed and choreographed fountain systems, with water shooting up to 150 meters high.

You can rent boats to watch the fountain show from the lake during the various performances held daily: one around 1 PM, and others after sunset, when the lighting gives even more energy to the spectacle.

Another top tourist attraction in Dubai is the Burj Al Arab, the most luxurious hotel in the world, shaped like a sailboat and located on a small artificial island 270 meters from the Umm Suqeim 3 district.

Most of Dubai's neighborhoods are built along the coastline. In some cases, just five kilometers west of the bustling city, the buildings disappear, giving way to the desert, which expands as you move south or east of the emirate.

To explore it, the best option is a 4x4 excursion to completely deserted areas full of dunes, fortunately well-connected by road to the coast. Before Dubai Creek's mouth in its northern part, there is an area filled with souks. One of the most notable is the Dubai Gold Souk, a complex with a covered market of 250 shops selling 18- and 22-karat gold. Don't miss it!
