Day 1 – Thursday. France – Bucharest
Arrival at Bucharest airport, meet and greet with the local guide. In the afternoon, we will explore the capital, including the Patriarchal Church, the Palace of the Parliament – the second-largest building in the world (after the Pentagon), and Revolution Square of 1989.
Day 2 – Friday. Bucharest – Cozia – Sibiu – Bazna
Route northwards. Stop at the Cozia Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Romania. The monastery is an example of well-preserved Wallachian architecture, with Byzantine influence, highlighted by the alternating groups of brick and stone, and carved pillars.
Continue towards the picturesque Olt Valley, through the Red Tower pass, where the border between Transylvania and Wallachia once stood. In the afternoon, visit the city of Sibiu – European Capital of Culture in 2007. The buildings of the Great and Small Square, the Brukenthal Palace, and the Bridge of Lies are just a few of the architectural monuments shaping the cityscape. In the evening, arrival in the spa town of Bazna.
Jour 3: Predeal – Bran – Râșnov – Prejmer – Hărman – Predeal
In the morning, we will visit Bran Castle, known as Dracula’s Castle. The castle was built in the 14th century by the Saxons of Brasov to defend the Bran pass against the Turkish threat. Set in a romantic location, it served as Queen Marie’s residence between the two world wars and is now a museum. The tour continues with a visit to the Rasnov Citadel, built in 1215 by the Teutonic Knights on a hill (150 meters high), and the fortified churches of Harman and Prejmer – the largest in southeastern Europe. In the evening, return to Predeal.
Day 4 – Sunday. Bazna – Mosna – Predeal
Visit the fortified church of Mosna. Continue to Predeal, one of Romania’s most famous winter sports resorts and, at the same time, the town located at the highest altitude in the country: 1059 m. It is an ideal destination for active tourism and winter sports as well as for relaxation.
Day 5 – Monday. Predeal – Prejmer – Harman – Brasov – Bran – Predeal
In the morning, travel to the Saxon fortified churches of Harman and Prejmer. In the afternoon, city tour of Brasov. The city was founded in the 13th century by the Teutonic Knights and was for centuries an economic and intellectual center of the Transylvanian Saxons, who formed the majority of the population until the 19th century. Visit the Black Church with its Buchholz organ (inside), the medieval city wall surrounding the old town with its elegant medieval houses, the Town Hall Square, the unique Rope Street, and Catherine’s Gate.
Day 6 – Tuesday. Predeal – Sinaia – Tulcea
Visit the Sinaia Monastery, founded in the 17th century by monks from the Sinai Peninsula. Continue towards Wallachia to Tulcea. In the late afternoon, enjoy a cruise to the Danube Delta with dinner on board.
Day 7 – Wednesday. Tulcea – Constanta – Bucharest
Travel to Constanta and visit the seaside resorts along the Black Sea coast and the city of Constanta, including Ovidiu Square and the Orthodox Cathedral. Drive to Bucharest and visit the Village Museum. Festive dinner with a folklore program at the Hanul lui Manuc restaurant.
Day 8 – Thursday. Bucharest – France
Free morning, transfer to the airport, and return flight.
